It was announced on September 7, 2017 by Equifax Inc. that they experienced a cybersecurity incident potentially impacting approximately 143 million U.S. consumers. Equifax states that the unauthorized access occurred from mid-May through July 2017 and there is no evidence of unauthorized activity on Equifax’s core consumer or commercial credit reporting databases.
Equifax is providing additional information on the breach, and also providing a tool to check if you information may have been compromised. Additionally, they are offering complimentary identify theft protection and credit monitoring.
